How to Select a Mover

Choose a moving company not a broker.
Brokers are in the business of selling and arranging moves for movers that bid for your move information. Removing the middleman may help you avoid the blame game should you need assistance during or after the move.
Choose a company regulated by the industry.
Weigh the risk of hiring people off a listserv or group who do not use employees that are insured and bonded. Harm to your premises or a mover injury will financially fall on you if they are not insured.
Ask for DOT and Motor carrier licenses to ensure a mover is complying with federal and state regulations and if moving long distance check for a American Moving and Storage Association (AMSA) endorsement.
Choose a company recognized by consumers.
The Better Business Bureau, the long standing indicator of quality, gives you the benefit of reviewing a company’s track record. When reading consumer review sites take into consideration the tone of the review and how the company responded.
Choose a company for the right price.
Reputable movers know they don’t quote the lowest price and you don’t want them to. Asking for a rate per hour or price per pound may not ensure a valid comparison of services performed. Invest your time upfront getting free written estimates from several movers to avoid surprises in the end that you don’t have the money or time for.

They were so quick obviously. They were very nice and helpful. And my wife specifically liked how they would talk out loud about their own safety and about protecting the walls and floors. Very amiable. Loved the experience!

Moving is always a tough experience but working with the crew was an absolute delight. The crew made the move easy, nothing was too much trouble and they completed every request with good humor and excellent customer service

My movers were fantastic. I wound up being much farther behind them than I anticipated, and they found parking and got started unloading while I was still on the road. This was my second move with Beltway Movers, and I’m officially a big fan.
